August 1944, the resistance movement Armia Krajowa (Home Army) rose up and fought against the German occupants of Warsaw. While Red army forces were close to Warsaw they didn't exert as much as pressure on the German forces as the resistance fighters had hoped so they had to continue to fight for independence on their own. Though on the other hand there are claims that Hungarian army units assisted the Poles by leaving weapons and equipment for them, despite being part of the Axis powers.

Did You Know That?

When you capture as German a flag, the resistance fighters still can spawn nearby the captured flags? This because the many manhole covers in the streets. Be carefull, the resistance can throw handgrenades out those spawnpoints.

Throughout the city near each of the flags there are manholes, these are destructable entry points for the Polish to hide or to get to the battlefield. They can hold three people at a time and one can throw hand grenades from them. The Germans have Flammenwerfer 35, Flammpanzer III and the Sturmtiger all weapons suited for urban warfare. Panther G tanks are used by both German and Polish forces. Also the Jagdpanzer 38(t) "Hetzer" are used by both sides but the one captured by the Polish is damaged and has limited speed and ammunition. The 14TP prototype medium tank, wz. 34, Hetzer, and 39M Csaba armoured cars are also available for the Polish.
