The French submachine gun in service during World War II was the Mitraillette MAS modèle 38 (MAS Model 38 Submachine Gun. Although being a sound enough weapon well in advance of its period, it was very complicated. Its cartridge was accurate but was only marginally capable as a combat round. The weapon was produced from 1939 until just after the war’s end and it saw service during the Battle of France in 1940 and during the German occupation of France by the Resistance. Manufacture was continued during the German occupation and it was issued to both the Wehrmacht as the MP722(f) and to the forces of Vichy France. At the war’s conclusion, the MAS 38 redeemed itself by being the weapon used to execute ‘Il Duce’ of Italy, the infamous dictator Benito Mussolini.

Just like its real prototype, the MAS 38 in FHSW is an accurate weapon, which lacks firepower (and when directly compared to MP 40 too).
