The Mauser Karabiner 98 kurz (often abbreviated as Kar98k, K98, or K98k) was the German standard handweapon of the infantry. It was designated as a carbine (Karabiner) but it was in actuality a short rifle. This weapon was the 3rd carbine version of the WW1 Mauser rifle, the Mauser Gewehr 98 or G98. It was shorter, had a stepped barrel like the G98, a side postioned sling, a compact turned down bolt handle, a wide lower band and a tanged leaf rear sight. Ingame the rifle has many equipments such as two scopes, a silencer, etc... Ingame the weapons are only used by Germans, except the Polish resistance which use the K98 as captured weapons. Later in the war, the Germans needed a fast produced weapon for the Volkssturm. This became the Volkssturmkarabiner 98 or VK-98. More then 14,000,000 rifles were to be produced between 1935 and 1945 by the nine factories and was the most produced Mauser rifle since!

During the war, the Germans used silencers on the Mauser 98k sniper rifles. In FHSW, you can use them on both sniper and rifle variants. Equiped with a Zielfernrohr 41 scope, you can kill your opponents from a far and meanwhile, if there are enemy's around you looking for you, you can just shoot without any insidious sounds!
