Historical information[]

The Jagdpanzer IV, Sd.Kfz. 162, was a tank destroyer based on the Panzer IV chassis built in three main variants. As one of the casemate-style turretless Jagdpanzer (tank destroyer, literally "hunting tank") designs, it was developed against the wishes of Heinz Guderian, the inspector general of the Panzertruppen, as a replacement for the StuG III. Guderian objected against, in his eyes, the needless diversion of resources from Panzer IV tank production, as the Stug III and Stug IV were still more than adequate for their role. Officially, only the L/48-armed vehicle was named Jagdpanzer IV. The L/70-armed vehicle was named Panzer IV/70 but they are bether know as the Jagdpanzer IV/70 (A) or Jagdpanzer IV/70 (V).

Ingame it is know as the Jagdpanzer IV and it is, with some modications, the same Jagdpanzer IV from Forgotten Hope. This was one of the last variants and the most produced version. The lettre "V" in the name refers to Vomag, the manufacturer. The Jagdpanzer IV(A) are be built by Alkett and was higher then the other Jagdpanzer IV variants. The Jagdpanzer IV(V) is the same verion like the Jagdpanzer IV Ausf F but with a longer and powerfull 75mm Pak 42 L/70 wich you can recornize because there was no muzzle break on this gun. Installing the much heavier Pak 42 meant that the Jagdpanzer IV was nose heavy, especially with the heavy frontal armor. This made them less mobile and more difficult to operate in rough terrain, leading their crews to nickname them Guderian-Ente (Guderian's duck). To prevent the rubber rims of the roadwheels being dislocated by the weight of the vehicle, some later versions had steel roadwheels installed on the front. FHSW have built the Nahverteidigungswaffe in the roof, an Mg42 in the front and some vehicles had also side skirts for protection againts enemy anti-tank handweapons. It was the most produced variant of the war (930–940 built between August 1944 and April 1945) and also the most used Jagdpanzer IV in FHSW.
