The Arisaka Type 38 rifle (三八式歩兵銃, san-bachi-shiki hoheijū), or also know as the Type 38 Year Meiji Carbine, was a rifle used by Japan during the Russo-Japanese War, the Russian Civil War, the First World War, the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Second World War. It is the oldest Japanese rifle used in Forgotten Hope Secret Weapon! It enters in service during the 38th year of the Meiji Periode (stands for 1905) as successor to the Type 30 Arisaka. The name Arisaka was given to a Japanese Colonel, Arisaka Nariakira, the inventor of the Arisaka Rifle wich died on January 12, 1915. The design was a combination off the German Mauser and the Hungarian Mannlicher designs, with some Japanese innovations. The results was this beautiful rifle wich can fire the 6.5×50mm Arisaka bullet. This relatively small caliber ensures that there is a low recoil. It was a long rifle and it wasn't an easy rifle to handle. However, it enter in Japanese service but also export to other country's like Thailand and during the First World War as training rifle by the British forces. Out this design many other variants have been designed. Later, some rifles have been redesigned with the new 7,7mm rounds and become the Arisaka Type 99 rifle. Atleast 3,400,000 rifles are been produced between 1905 and 1945. It saw also service after the war during the Indonesian National Revolution.
The Japanese Arisaka Type 38 Carbine (三八式騎銃 Sanpachi-shiki kijū?) was a short barreled version of the bolt-action Type 38 rifle, it was used by the Japanese cavalry, engineers and artillery troops during the First- and Second World War. It entered service in 1905. It was very accurate, and the rifle barrel was 310 mm shorter than the standard rifle. It was also used by rear echelon troops.
This is a version of Type 38 Rifle with 30 rounds magazine attached, though it is designated as Trench Carbine ingame. There is no any information about this weapon in historical reference and on the Internet, so it's likely was thought up by FHSW developers.
This rifle can be found on The Forgotten Jungle map in one of the spawnable Japanese kits.
